Ads show examples of products that were available during a given time period and their costs. They show the advance of technology and changes in lifestyles that have taken place through the years. Ads are probably the best way to see the effect of years of monetary inflation on your purchasing power. They also offer insight into popular theories of the time (as with benefits listed for medicines and other products).
