Robert & Mary Turner's A Glimpse of Titus County, Texas History

Mt. Pleasant began as a collection of small retail businesses that provided life's necessities to Titus County farmers as well as people traveling through the area.  Large industries provide economic stability to the area, but it is the small businesses and industries that give Titus County its personality and diversity.

Barbers Must Secure Certificates by Aug. 18

Austin, Texas, July 15. - All suits testing the constitutionality of the new Texas barber law have been dismissed, all amendments to the law are in effect, and all barbers must secure their certificates of registration before August 18, the Board of Barber Examiners announced Tuesday.

Those who have not registered by August 18 will be arrested and fined and will be prohibited from working in the state as barbers.  If they should desire to register they will be required to pass an examination.

Up to date the board has registered more than 11,000 barbers.  It is estimated that at least 10,000 others have not registered.
