This early Mt. Pleasant badge probably pre-dates the founding of the Mt. Pleasant Police Department in 1949.  We suspect that it is from the 1930s when Mt. Pleasant hired traffic officers to enforce the motor vehicle laws in addition to the City Marshal and night watchman.  The badge is light-weight stamped tin, unlike today's heavier engraved metal badges.

Hard to photograph due to years of tarnish, the badge reads:
Roy Fench
Motor Cop
Mt. Pleasant, Tex.
