Please help!  We need the following information:
Titus County's Afro-American History - We want to include Titus County's Afro-American history on the website, but have not been able to locate photos or many historic documents.  If you or your family have photos, stories, or other information relating to the history of Titus County's Afro-American businesses, prominent  citizens, schools, or other topics, please contact us.

We would also like to mention that we have asked a number of people about contributing articles and information about Titus County's Afro-American history for use on the website, and as we said above, have been unsuccessful.  It is our sincere feeling that if something is not done to record and preserve this important part of Titus County's history, it will soon fade away as older members of the Afro-American community pass away.

The Titus County Historical Commission would be pleased to have members of the Afro-American community join their organization and will be pleased to work with them toward preserving the history of their culture for future generations.  If you are interested in doing so, please contact us.

The Farmers' Union Clearing House of Titus County -- was in operation in 1912, but we don't know how long (if any) before or after.  The organization issued stock certificates.  If you know anything about the Clearing House, please contact us.  Would like to know what they did, where they were located, dates of operation.  D.A. Cook was Secretary-Treasurer and F.L. Waller was President.

The Break 'O Day Canning Company -- was in operation in the early 1900's.  We have no other info on it, but would like to find out more about it.  Have a scan of a stock certificate, so we suppose it was a publicly owned company.

Does anyone have any old street or highway maps? -- Most of the streets in Mt. Pleasant have been re-named over the years, and we would like to photograph or copy old maps (1900-1960) showing the original street names so we can tell visitors where certain photos were taken are what current streets are referenced in old news stories.

Does anyone have any old telephone books, city directories, or high school annuals? -- Old telephone books help us locate where businesses were formerly located.  Please contact us if you have any old telephone books (1970 and earlier) that you are planning on discarding.  We would like to add them to our research library.

Likewise, city directories and high school annuals are sometimes helpful.  Please contact us if you plan to discard any of these.

Does anyone have a map of the original 48 block townsite? -- We would like to copy it, too.

Old Photos of Titus County -- If you plan to discard any old family photos or photos concerning anything in Titus County, please contact us first.  We would like to have the photos rather than seeing them go to the dump.
