Describe Each Photo That You Submit
Please be sure to include all information possible about each photo that you submit so that others will know what they're looking at and the names of any identifiable people shown in the photo.
Your Contact Information
Please be sure to tell us how to contact you if we have questions. We would like your name, e-mail address, and telephone number. We normally work by e-mail, but sometimes may need to ask questions that are easier done by telephone. This information is not for public use, it only gives us a way to contact your if we have questions about the photo(s) you submit.
To protect your privacy, we do not list names or other private information on the website.
How to Submit Your Description(s)
Please don't write on your photo (either directly or digitally) as we may resize the photo and the writing will not be legible and will distract from the photo.
We use Windows-based computers. Please list the photo name (as Downtown Mt. Pleasant #1), then type your descriptions in either Microsoft Word, Wordpad, or Notepad.
Information We Need About Each Photo
Please name each photo with a unique name (Downtown1.tif, Downtown2.tif, etc. for example). Sometimes everything isn't known, but tell us everything that you know about the photo including:
- when it was taken (exact date if known, or "about [year]")
- where it was taken (downtown Mt. Pleasant, on the [name] farm 2 miles Southeast of Mt. Pleasant, at the Winfield coal mine [exact location if known, approximate if not], etc.)
- what the photo shows (making barrel heads at the old barrel plant, a general view of Jefferson Street in downtown Mt. Pleasant in 1902, the Gaddis Motel in 1945, harvesting cotton on the [name] farm in 1913, etc.)
- If the photo contains recognizable people, please tell us who they are if you know. List the names of any persons shown in the photo (list them left to right, top to bottom). If they have passed away, please include their birth and death dates. If the persons are still living, please state this and don't include their birth dates or personal information other than names. If the photos show early whiskey-making, names aren't needed.
Please be sure to include your name and e-mail or mailing address with each description document in case your descriptions accidentally become separated from the photos you submit.
