Ground breaking held for the new Mt. Pleasant Central Fire Station to be built in Dellwood Park.
Ground breaking and dirt work started on new Mt. Pleasant Regional Airport which included a 5,000 foot runway, 1,700 foot taxi-ways, and a 2,500 square foot terminal, 20 to 30 T-hangers, and a 229 acre industrial park.
The Mt. Pleasant Public Library was extensively remodeled to make it compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. Public computers were added, as well as a number of other improvements.

March 29 - United States Steel acquired Lone Star Technologies, who owned Lone Star Steel, for approximately $2.1 billion dollars in cash on March 29, 2007, subject to the approval of Lone Star's shareholders. The Lone Star Steel plant at Lone Star has about 1,500 employees. All divisions of Dallas-based Lone Star Technologies have about 2,800 employees. At one time in the 1960s the payroll reached 6,000. The transaction was expected to close in the third quarter of 2007.
TXU Corporation, who owns large open-pit coal mines and a power generating plant in Titus County, was purchased by private investors and its name was changed to Luminant.
November 11 -- Mt. Pleasant's 1897 Bell Tower Project was formally dedicated on November 11, 2007 and the bell rang for the first time in over 60 years.
