World War II
The government instituted a military draft to insure that the military was staffed at full capacity.  Men between the ages of 21 and 36 were required to register for the draft and were issued a pocket card showing that they had registered.  They were required to carry the card on their person at all times as long as they were eligible to be drafted.  James O. Justiss' registration card is shown above.
Robert & Mary Turner's A Glimpse of Titus County, Texas History

World War II was the second and last large-scale global conflict.  Although World War II was mainly fought in Europe and the Pacific, it had a profound effect on Titus County.  Like in World War I before, many Titus County men served in World War II.  There were other local effects, like rationing of goods needed for the war effort, bond drives, enhanced civil defense efforts, and other things that directly affected local residents who were not in the service.
